www.readthescriptures.com

Today our bishop challenged our ward to read the Book of Mormon in 90 days. At first I was like, not right now, don't feel like it, that would be way too much reading every day, other excuses for my laziness. Then I received a mass email from the bishop that reminded members of this challenge and included a powerpoint presentation with really great quotes on scripture study and this one stood out to me~

“I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase, mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow, the spirit of contention will depart, parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom, children will be more responsive and submissive to that counsel, righteousness will increase, faith, hope, and charity, the pure love of Christ will abound in our homes and lives bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness” Marion G. Romney

What great promises, especially the "children will be more responsive and submissive to that counsel" part :) When I read this, I decided to accept the challenge. We'll see how I do. Our bishop sent us a link to this website I've never heard of www.readthescriptures.com. It is really cool! It will send you personalized emails with daily reading assignments according to however many days you want to finish one of the standard works. I started today and hopefully I'll finish in 90 days....

This website looks great. I may join you in this challenge -- we haven't done as well as I'd like to lately. Thanks for the link!

I am glad our ward is doing this. Hopefully it will help me stay on track.

Me too. I was totally slacking in the personal scripture study department. This will make me stay on top of it!
