Aubrey's Family Home Evening

We had Aubrey completely plan our Family Home Evening this week and she amazed us with how wonderful she did. She has helped prepare, but has never completely planned every detail like this before. She started by making a plan(pictured above). I thought this was the cutest thing I have ever seen! She taped it to the wall in the living room and used it as her guide as she conducted and she did so great! Every bit of this was from her. We didn't help her at all. The "leson" consisted of her reading us a Matt & Mandy story out of the Friend magazine. Then she said she didn't really understand what the word "Gosbl"(gospel) meant and that she wanted to talk about what it meant. So, we looked it up in the Bible Dictionary and just had a little discussion on it. And the following is the best part of the lesson. She stood in the middle of the living room while we were all on sitting on the couch and said(a little nervously) something close to this, "I have something I wanted to tell about prayer and how Heavenly Father answered my prayer one time. Ella couldn't find her unicorn and so we said a prayer together and when I opened my eyes, I looked up and the unicorn was right there." Then Ella chimed in, "We got the stepstool and got it down!" When Aubrey was speaking, the spirit was so strong in the room. I got teary-eyed and I looked over at Joey and I could tell he was too. Actually, I got teary eyed just typing this:) We talked about how her testimony of how Heavenly Father answers prayers had grown that day and she really understood that. She knew He answered her prayer. It was neat to see her testimony already growing and to learn from her and her sweet faith. No prayer is too small or unimportant to Him. It was a very special Family Home Evening that I will never forget. I was so proud of my little girl and how seriously she took preparing this lesson(at the tender age of 6) and how much I learned from her that evening. We have such special little girls.

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. I got very teary eyed reading it. You are very blessed to have such a beautiful family. I'm sure she has learned so much from both her parents and leaders. Thank you for holding family home evenings and showing the importance of it. You guys are great examples. I enjoyed her testimony on prayer. A friend magazine story for sure. Love you guys. Mom/Nana

HOLLY & JOEY,
AUBREY DID AN EXCELLENT FAMILY HOME EVENING AND I CAN JUST SEE HER GROWN UP WITH A STRONG TESTIMONY OF THE GOSPEL. SHE WILL BE AN OUTSTANDING LADY. READING THIS AND SEEING HOW LOVING GIRL & SISTER SHE IS. I LOVE IT SO MUCH WHEN THE TWO GIRLS HOLD HANDS OR HUGGING EACH OTHER SHOWING HOW MUCH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER. HER EXAMPLE OF BEING A BIG SISTER THAT ELLA IS DOING THE SAME THING TO CALI. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH AND MISS THEM DEARLY. I WILL MISS ELLA'S FIRST PRIMARY PROGRAM BUT MY TAUGHT THAT DAY WILL BE THINKING HOW BEAUTIFUL AND EXCITE MY GRANDDAUGHTERS STANDING IN FRONT AND DOING ALL THE THINGS THEY PRATICE.

THIS IS FOR AUBREY: YOU ARE MY OLDEST GRANDDAUGHTER AND YOU ARE DOING AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE TO YOUR MOM & DAD AND SISTERS OF BEING A CHRIST LIKE.YOU HAVE A STRONG LOVE FOR OUR SAVIOR AND HEAVENLY FATHER. LOVE YOU VERY MUCH AND I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD HEARING YOUR VOICE AND LAUGH.
