Joey's gotta new callin

So, Joey has been in Primary ever since we moved from Corpus Christi. He was the 5 year old teacher in our Austin ward and was called to teach the Sunbeams when we moved here. He is really good with kids and they were great(and very challenging at times) callings. We actually taught the Sunbeams together for several months when we first moved here, which was fun to do together. There was that time when this one little boy clipped his tie to his lip and screamed bloody murder while Joey tried to remove it without luck and then I came to his rescue, but other than that, we survived:) Good times. There were some "fun" kids in that class thats for sure:)
So, anyways, on to my point. Joey got a call to meet with the bishopric(all 3 of them!) last week and they just asked him a bunch of questions. Joey said it felt like he was in job interview. Then a few days later, a counselor in the bishopric called and came over to our house and extended him the calling as the Young Men's 1st counselor. They had interviewed several guys in the ward to get a feel for who they should choose because they take the youth program really seriously and wanted to pick the right person. So, thats some props for Joey! He won!!! Um, yeah.... For those reading this who aren't LDS, he will basically be one of the adult leaders for the youth organization in our church. He is a little nervous about it, but he's done this calling before. He was actually YM President and a counselor while we lived in Corpus Christi so he has experience, but its been awhile since he's been in there. So, I'll be missing him on those weekends when they have campouts and on Wednesday nights when they have YM/YW, but I think this calling will be good for him again. He was awesome in YM before and I think he'll enjoy getting to do campouts and guy stuff again-seeing as that he is surrounded by us girls all the time:) Its definitely going to require a lot more time out of him, but I know he was ready for a change. I know this is where he is supposed to be right now.

Yay Joey! Those YM are lucky to have him -- although I'm sad for the Primary people. Joey was wonderful with the kids in our ward, as were you, Holly -- we miss you both! But he will be great in YM.

Hooray for Joey! YM will be an awesome experience! How funny you two were the Sunbeams teacher because that is my calling in the HC Ward!! (I must have inherited the calling from you guys :) and clipping the tie to a lip sounds pretty typical. You gotta love the Sunbeams...

HOLLY,
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS AND JOEY YOU ALWAYS DO AN OUTSTANDING WORK NO MATTER WHAT CALLING THEY GIVE YOU. I KNOW THAT YOU ALWAYS MAGNIFY YOUR CALLING AND I KNOW YOU WILL DO GOOD. YOU DO NOT HAVE A BOY YET BUT NOW YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF BOYS TO TEACH,LOVE, AND YOU'LL BE A STRONG EXAMPLE TO THOSE BOYS. JUST REMEMBER THE TEACHING OF THE SAVIOR AND SOME OF THE PAST TEACHING THAT GOT YOU CLOSE TO HIM.
