A Trip to the Firestation

This past week was Fire Prevention Week. Aubrey came home from school with an Escape Plan that we filled out. Aubrey told us if we brought it with us to the firestation Thursday night, they would give her a certificate, goodie bag and a tour of the station. It was a really fun night and it inspired us to get a plan ready, plan to practice a home fire drill, and order a home escape ladder for upstairs. Its scary when you think about how often fires happen and how unprepared we really are. Now we have set a goal to really prepare ourselves in case it does ever happen, which hopefully it doesn't. No one thinks it will happen to them, but to some people it does. So, thanks Firestation #5 for a great family night and lots of great information on fire safety!

Great idea, glad to see you guys planning for a fire emergency. You're right no one thinks it can happen to them nor do most realize how fast a fire can destroy a home- it's minutes. We need to review too so thanks for the reminder.

That is awesome. The other day I was looking through a magazine and saw one of those ladders that drop down from upstairs. Thought of us all that have two story homes. I'm so glad to hear that you guys went to the Fire Station that night. Good job Aubrey for remembering to bring your paper home and telling mommy and daddy about Thursday night. I'm very very very glad to hear that you will be practicing your fire drills something we should all do. I love your pictures with your firegirl hats. Too cute.

What a smart idea--I NEVER think of this kind of stuff and I really should. I think this will have to be our FHE tomorrow night! Thanks for the idea :)

What a fun family activity. The girls look like the loved visiting the fire station. We need to come up with a plan for our family too. It is always good to be prepared.
