Walk for Lucy

Yesterday morning we walked to remember our niece, Lucy, who was stillborn about a month and a half ago. Christine and Watson participated in a walk in their area called the Share Walk the same morning as well as Joey's sister, Genie, and her family in California. There weren't any being held in Texas, so both our family, and Joey's parents and other family members in Corpus Christi, held our own little family walks. It was a nice beautiful morning and we really enjoyed the walk together and thought about Lucy, Christine & Watson and many others out there who have experienced this kind of a tragedy. This happens to more people that I had realized and it has really made me more aware of it. For anyone who doesn't know, Share is an amazing organization dedicated "to serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life." We are glad that we were able to be a part of it in our own way. Everyone in Joey's immediate family was walking that morning. We love you Lucy!

Our neighbor just happened to be out in her yard and snapped a shot of us before we headed out.

Thank you Joey, Holly, Aubrey, Ella, & Cali. You guys are the greatest. We love you. It was awesome to know that everywhere at various times as a family individually and collectively were all doing the same thing to remember Olive Lucy and others who have suffered a loss. We love all of you and are so grateful for a family who is very supportive.

Holly, you are such a great mother and sister. What an example you are to your children and what a support you have been to your family. I bought a candle so that I could light it tonight at 7. I didn't read about the walk, but I'll make sure to light my candle as my way of remembering Lucy and others. Thanks for sharing
