Bright n early yesterday morning, our ward had a Memorial Day Breakfast and Fun Run. I am on the activities committee so I had the pleasure of flipping pancakes almost the whole time. Joy. Melissa rescued me part way through it though, so I could spend time with my family in the short time they were here. She knew they were leaving right after, so I was so grateful for that! Thanks Melissa, you're awesome! Anyways, after the fun run and breakfast, I was in charge of the yard games. We did the egg/spoon race, a potato sack race(using pillowcases, I couldn't find darn potato sacks!), and a game of kickball. It was lots of fun! It was a great morning with our ward family. Can I just say that 5th ward rocks? It does. Its the best ward we've been in! Its so important when you live away from family to have a great ward and we really have been blessed with a great ward here. Lots of great people and good friends!

Taylor eating his breakfast like a good boy

Go Aubrey go! She did great. Ella wouldn't do either race.
Ella preferred climbing things with her buddy, Dax, instead of playing the games:)
Pillowcase race
View of my butt in a line of butts cooking the pancakes. Can you guess which one is mine? Hint: its very flat and looks as if its imploding.

Hey kicker, kicker, kick!

Cali was tuckered out when we got home and found Grandpas shoulder to rest on:) Is this not the sweetest picture?
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

I love the idea of a ward Memorial Day breakfast (although I'm not much of a runner...)! I totally agree with you on the importance of a great ward when you live away from family. I never knew that until I moved away.
Looks like fun, but I am so not a runner... even though I have the legs for it. So excited about your party Holly. I am brainstorming on what to make, what to make, what to make...
I have to agree with you about our ward. 5th ward rocks! The reason why it rocks is because we are in it. :) I love the picture of Cali with her Grandpa. So sweet!
heck, i ain't no runner either! i don't even like to walk from the couch to the front door:) j/k kind of....it was a fun run/walk thing. some of the avid runners actually ran a 5k and then families with kids/nonrunners did a little one miler walk. i actually didn't do either because i was busy flippin the hotcakes! so, i lucked out! :)
you guys have such fun ward activities! what fun!
Looks like a fun day! Just say pancakes and I'm there.
Sounds like tons of fun -- love it!
looks like a blast! fifth ward does totally rock - we miss you guys. :( but i'm glad you get to go to a ward that is so fun!
What a wonderful tradition! Your ward certainly does rock! Looks like everyone had a wonderful time!
I wanted to go to our ward's Memorial Day breakfast and be social but Rand was still out of town and I'd skipped church the day before so I felt guilty going...plus the idea of trying to eat pancakes and keeping my kids as non-sticky as possible didn't sound like my kind of fun.
Aw, that is such a cute picture of Dad and Cali. Thanks Melissa for flippin' those pancakes for her at the park. :)
