California! Day 1

So, we're back from our California trip and I'm already suffering from California withdrawal! When we stepped off the airplane yesterday, I could feel the searing 100 degree Dallas heat hit me like a ton of bricks. I wanted to crawl back on the plane and fly back! But the flight attendant wouldn't allow it. Sigh. Oh, how I miss that California breeze. . . Anyways, we had an AWESOME trip! I wish we could go back in time and do it all over again. I'm already thinking about our next trip out there:) Since we took about a million pictures, I'm breaking up the trip into several posts. I'll try not to bore everyone, but since this is blog is really my journal I've got to blog every bit of it!
Day 1

We loaded up our stuff and headed to DFW for the girls first flight ever. They did great on the plane! They loved take off and with the descent there was only minimal ear pain, nothing that caused tears so that was a blessing. I was worried about that with Aubrey's ear problems lately, but she was fine. The girls kept busy on the plane with lots of snacks, books from their Auntie Crissie(thanks!), and their favorite stuffed animals. I think they loved looking out the window and the clouds most of all. They also loved pulling their own suitcases through the airport and they looked so cute and all grown-up doing it.

We're on the plane! Ella was so happy to get to chew all the gum her little heart desired.

When we arrived in Orange County, we loaded up our stuff into our rental minivan(Now I know what it feels like to have one of those-it was actually really cool! I may get one...someday) and headed to my dear bloggin friend, Grammy Lura's, house. I was excited a couple of months ago to find out she lives near Disneyland! Lura, her husband, John, and her grandkids that were there(E.J., Claire and Austin)are seriously the sweetest people ever! We had the best time meeting them and getting to spend time with them that evening. When we pulled up, we saw that their grandkids had even decorated the cutest welcome sign:) It was so sweet. They barbecued for us, let us swim in their pool, made us homemade icecream, built a little fire to roast S'mores, let the kids run around their huge yard and pick all of their fruit:), even bought presents for our girls, and just showed us a great time. I can't thank them enough for everything they did for us and how welcome they made us feel. I feel like they are family! I felt like that before I even met her and now I do even more. And to think if I didn't blog, we wouldn't know them!

Claire and Aubrey were buds within minutes. They are only a month apart in age. Aubrey was so sad when we had to say goodbye:(

All of us(well besides John the photographer:)

Aubrey's first jump off a diving board. Go Aubrey! Don't you love her stance?

Bubbles in the pool! My kids(and Joey) were in heaven. Lura and John know how to party!

The cutest tomato pickers you've ever seen

Ella had a blast running around the backyard picking fruit and exploring the "magical forest." We caught her with no shoes on once. She is a true island girl:)

Silly faces. I have to say Aubrey is quite skilled at this art. She gets it from her mother.

Me and my Cali girl

Aubrey and Claire roasting their s'mores

After our hugs and goodbyes, we headed off to the luxurious Holiday Inn:) for some rest before our big day at Disneyland. Our first evening in California was perfect. Thanks again Grammy Lura and Grampy John for opening up your homes and inviting us over for dinner. The food was delicious and we all had a wonderful time! A stop by your home will forever be a must on our future California trips:)

Well, that wraps up Day 1. I'm off to bed. More tomorrow....

FINALLY!!!!! You're back! All is right again in the world of blogging. I was just so jealous that you guys were in Disneyland, so Arthur and I went to Six Flags. I tried to imagine I was at Disneyland too, but to no avail. There was no Magical Kingdom, no castle, and no Mickey Mouse. :( poo

I LOVE THE BUBBLE ACTION!!!

they did that at a club in cancun that we went to people watch about 5 years ago, but with a bunch of drunks, so it was quite entertaining.....
