On our way to Corpus Christi for Thanksgiving, we stopped at our old stompin grounds, Austin TX, for the weekend. It was so fun to go to the places we used to when we lived there and see old friends! We first went to Zilker Park where my sweet friend Michelle and her daughter, Becky met us there. Becky and Aubrey are the same age and used to play when we lived there a couple of years ago. They had fun playing together at the park! And it was so great to see Michelle again. The Stout family was one of our absolute favorites in our old ward and we weren't surprised to hear that her husband just got called as Bishop(he will be perfect!) And who else met us there at the park? The Wright family! I had never met Kristi before, well except in my my wildest dreams....:) We only knew each other through blogging and it was so cool to finally meet her in person. I may have been a disappointment, but she wasn't-she is just as cool, funny and cute in person as she is in blog world. I love her! Thanks for meeting up with us guys! While in Austin, we also ate at the Shady Grove, one of Austin's funky restaurants on the Zilker strip, known for its burgers and thick shakes.
We also visited our old town, Buda, which is where we lived the year and a half we were there. It is the cutest town ever and it is growing like crazy! We loved Buda. We loved the small town feel, the little parades, the weiner dog races, Budafest, the little library where the librarian knew my kids by name, it was the best. I was also VERY excited to see my old Buda BFF Molly. We almost didn't get to meet up but then were able to and I was so happy! Her and I became great friends the last few months we lived there-one of those friends you can call up about anything. I was sad when we left mostly because of this new friendship we shared:( She is awesome. I'm so glad I got to see you Molly. I miss you girl!
While in Austin, we attended our old ward and I was able to see Jan and Steph while we were there. It was nice to talk to them and give them big hugs. Its been fun keeping in touch with these ladies through blogging. I missed Natalie though, maybe next time Natalie! And Juli, next time I hope your kids are better! I missed you too!
So, we had a great time visiting the Austin area. Austin is a gorgeous city with so much to do and we miss it. But we also LOVE where we are now. I say that anywhere in Texas is awesome-its the best state in the USA! Friendly people, affordable living, and beautiful. Everythings bigger AND better in Texas! Right, ya'll? :)
