Easy Bake Ain't So Easy

One of Aubrey's Christmas presents was an Easy Bake oven. We searched for over a week for a dang 100 watt standard bulb. Every place we went to was out! And why doesn't the oven come with the bulb? Aye. One afternoon, Joey came home a hero with one in his hand. So finally, we busted out the Easy Bake Oven. Aubrey was thrilled! We got everything ready and turned it on. The oven had to preheat for about 10-15 minutes. Then her cake had to bake for about 12 minutes. Then it had to cool in the "cooling chamber" for another 10 minutes. So, basically, it takes over half an hour to make basically one serving size of cake! It was fun to do, but a little time consuming for something so tiny to consume. After all that work, they each had like 2 bites worth:) But it was fun watching their faces and watching them enjoy the fruits of their labor.

So, here are pictures from our Easy Bake experience. I'll leave out the commentary for each picture to save you time:) They pretty much explain themselves. . .

You want to stock up on those 100 watt bulbs Holly! They are phasing them out which is probably why you had a really hard time finding one! I always wanted an easy bake oven when I was a kid, never got one though! I loved all the pictures and especially the last one...that Cali is adorable!

I second your comments - -I remember it as being a big pain.

Tiffany always wanted an easy bake. We never got her one until, as a joke, when she was like 14. I think she used it once. It was a pain in the booty. It was a fun joke though.

I love Cali in that last picture. Could she be any more adorable? I think not! So other than it being time consuming, I'm guessing it was easier than the cupcake maker, right? :)

I remember being totally mystified by that as a kid. It's a toy...but it REALLY bakes? Totally went over my head.

Your poll makes me laugh. You're more charitable than myself. I probably offend and don't care. ;o) I figure you may or may not agree with me but at least you know where I honestly stand.

I always wanted one of those when I was a kid! I thought that it was so cool. The girls will always remember that they got one and I'm sure have fond memories hard or not. Did you get a taste? I hope it tasted better that cupcake frosting maker!

Ahh this post brings back sweet memories to me. My girls had an easy bake oven too. And I agree with you that they are too much effort for the end result but a lot of fun for the kids.

I agree with everyone else that the last picture of Cali is adorable.... but I also love the one of Ella, Aubrey and you looking in to the oven. Ella's expression is priceless.

I am picking up Marie at the air port. It is about a 4 hour drive to Sun Valley. I will drive her to the event and we will stay there for 3 days and then go back to Utah to visit with Lynell and Erin. We are all so excited.

By the way.... when are you coming to CA again. We miss you.

Have a great day, Love Lura

"Oh no! Huh? WHY ISN"T IT MOVING!!!"

Lol
I had an easy bake oven when I was little. I used it once, and after that I hated the thing. Lets go play with the real oven!

So cute!! I love the pic with Cali & her feet on the table, just kicking it, eating her share. What fun even if it took 4ever! Way to go Joey & save the day!
