Kyle Adams Memorial Golf Tournament

Last week, as two of you may have noticed:), I was missing from the blogosphere for a few days. Our family took a trip down south to the Houston area. My uncle's family lives in Santa Fe and we, along with lots of family from everywhere, went to visit. The 3rd Annual Kyle Adams Memorial Golf Tournament was being held that weekend and Joey was a participant. For those of you that don't know, Kyle is my cousin. He died in a car accident March 25, 2006 at the young age of 17. Click here for the story of this tragedy. Its heartbreaking. He was a much loved son, brother, cousin, grandson, friend, student, and a seriously amazing athlete that had a future so unbelievably bright. I remember when I found out, being so shocked and sad. My thoughts immediately turned to his Mom, Dad & little sister, Kellye. They have been in our prayers ever since. I was glad we were able to be there this weekend, for Joey to be part of the Golf Tournament, with proceeds going to a scholarship fund in Kyle's name, and for me and the girls to just be there spending time with everyone. I also was able to show the girls some pictures of Kyle that are in their home. They were really wowed by his pictures and accomplishments. He was and is a special young man that I'm proud to call my cousin. We love and miss you Kyle. . .

My uncle Kenny and his father-in-law did their annual "fish fry" while everyone hung out and swam the first night. It was some good eatin! And yep, you can swim in April in Texas(thats why everyone should move here!) The temps were in the upper 70's and Kenny heated up the pool. They have an amazing pool and patio area in the back. The kids had a blast. . .

Joey with Ella and cousin Jerald holding on

Here is Aubrey making sure no water gets in her eyes our mouth:) Actually, I think she just blinked. She was swimming all over that pool! She even went down the slide(which goes pretty fast) and she did it over and over again. These kids are ready for summer! Not me though. I'm enjoying the spring

My brother Taylor and cousin Blake

Cali was very clingy to me the entire trip. There were too many unfamiliar faces for her to handle. However, there was a moment when she let someone else hold her. And the winner was my cousin Brandon! Good job Brandon! :) Btw, it was awesome seeing you again-it had been YEARS!

Here are the pictures Joey took from the golf tournament. I like how he took a picture of this sign. Those are Kyle's initials and his football/baseball jersey numbers.

Joey's partners in crime, my cousins Josh, Jeremy & Bryan.

So, this is why they wanted Joey on their team. . . .

While the men golfed, us women watched the kiddos have an Easter egg hunt. The kids had fun getting a bazillion eggs in Kenny's ginormous yard. Here they are- ready to hunt!

Go Ella!

Cali hunting with Grandma by her side

My favorite picture of them all. Cali's absolute favorite thing in the world is a lollipop. Can you tell?

The kids each had to find an egg with their name on it for a surprise(a dollar!)

It was a really nice weekend. Thanks so much Kenny, Karen & Kellye for everything. We love you guys and hope to visit you again soon!

It's always so tragic when a young person dies before their time. What a wonderful way to keep his memory alive. Your girls sure look like they are enjoying themselves. I just love them to pieces!

What fun this weekend was and such a healing hearts trip! I can not believe that is my hubby hitting a gold ball off your hubby's face. Boys, they grow up only in stature though. I know they had fun and it was a well deserved trip. Glad to have seen you all!! Jeremy wants a copy of the Dr. Pepper/duck video. I am afraid to see it!
