He did it!

We are finally back from vacation and unpacked. Did you miss me? Yeah, I didn't think so. . .:)Where were we you might ask? Joey and I went on our first cruise! And why did we indulge in this lazy wonderful vacation? Joey got his MBA!!!!!!!!!!!! Woot woot!!!!!!!!!!!!
In our 9 years of marriage, Joey has worked tirelessly on getting the education he needs with little or no break. It took him 7 years of our married life(8 years total) to get his Bachelor's degree due to the fact that he has always been working a full-time demanding job, we've moved a few times, he has almost always had big church callings and he is most importantly a super husband and daddy. We thought he was done. We really did. After suffering all those years, I didn't think we could handle anymore(I say "we" because its been hard for me too!) But a few months after he received his Bachelor's, we both felt very strongly he needed to go further and get his Masters. We figured whats another year and a half after 8 years!? And hallelujah, he did it and its OVER! No more school for Joey-EVER! Only he and I know what this accomplishment really means for us, no one else saw the hours he put in, the days when he was sooooo tired but kept plugging on. No one else saw him leave his study area over and over again to come into the living room to be part of whatever cute things the kids were doing(He couldn't ever resist being with us for a few minutes to take a break! He always put us first, always.) And he never freaked out. He just handled it so well. I couldn't have done it, I know that. I don't know how he handled the stress of a million things all piled up at once, other than the fact that the Lord blessed him for his righteousness, for his love of his family, and his desires for good. He took on a big calling as soon as he started his MBA, first counselor in the Young Men's Presidency at church. I thought it would be too much for him and I know he was worried at first too. But what happened was amazing. He did better at school and was happier. This calling ended up becoming a huge blessing. Sure, he has had his share of meetings and activities that have taken away from family time/study time. But all in all, he needed this outlet to do "man" things:) He was able to go on campouts, high adventures & the mountain man experience. He was able to hike miles, build fires & white water raft. These experiences were the breaks he needed to keep going. And he has built new friendships through these activities as well. So, I just wanted to bear my testimony that I know that church callings and the things that the Lord asks of us will always bless us if we obey and follow Him. It may seem like we can't do it, but the Lord will help us when we have faith. If Joey hadn't been doing what he should be doing, he couldn't have accomplished all of this. I'm grateful for my wonderful husband and the faith and endurance he showed. He is the best person I know or have ever known and I admire him more than he knows. I LOVE YOU JOEY! Thank you so much for doing this for our family. I know you did this because you love us so much and want to make sure you provide for us. You are the best!

The five of us went to Saltgrass Steakhouse one night to celebrate. That place cooks up some mean steaks. It was our first time to try this place and we loved it.

And then while in Corpus, we(his parents and I) threw him a surprise graduation party. We invited some family over for some good eatin and good times. His parents made all kinds of delicious food and went all out to make it special. The food was fantastic! Thanks to everyone that helped and everyone that came to share in our joy of Joey's accomplishments!

Party in the house!

It was hard to figure out a way to surprise him since the house we were celebrating at was also the house we were staying at. I basically ended up putting him down for a nap:) He is the type of guy that loves to sleep, can fall asleep in one minute, and can sleep through anything. I just told him he should take a nap and I'd watch the kids. It was easy peasy. This guy will never say no to a nap. An hour or so later, I woke him up and the living room was full of our family yelling, "Surprise!" while he looked half asleep:) hahaha.

The cake! YUM!

A bunch o people that I love. Two of my bros
My cousin Julie and her sixth little one, Brant. The girls helping their Daddy open some gifts

Cali spent half the evening next to the cake table. . .

And the other half begging for more cake and icecream. How could a grandpa say no to that sweet little face?

A congratulatory kiss:)

And big Joe asleep after a long afternoon at the grill. Joey is definitely his son. They can fall asleep anywhere anytime:)

Joey, you da man! I'm so proud of you. I can't say it enough! Hope you loved your party. It was so fun surprising you while you had bedhead:)

Cruise pictures to follow. . .

That was really touching honey. There is no way that I could have done this without the Lord's help and of course your encouragement and support over these many years. I feel like you've earned it along side of me. You and the girls are my life and I will endure anything to make your lives better. I love you!!!

Way to go Joey!! That is an amazing accomplishment. You go too Holly! I know how hard it must have been to support Joey through it all, but it's been worth it I can see! You are just the sweetest family. I just adore each of you! Oftimes when I read your words and about your family times, my heart aches because I would so have loved to have a little bit of this myself, but my heart also rejoices that you do. I love you to bits! xxoo

That was so sweet! You two are such a great team and he is one lucky guy to have you supporting him through all of that. I am so impressed with him for his determination to finish things. I'm sure that it wasn't easy, but that is for sure what made it great!
