I originally told the kids that some day when they were old enough to help out with a dog more, we would get one(and I meant when they were teenagers!). But lately, Aubrey has been talking about puppies so much and I just had this feeling that now is the time for us. We have this little space right now where we don't have a leetle baby, so I felt I could devote the next year to puppyhood. And then our kids can grow up with a little dog in their life, which I think will be wonderful for them in creating memories. So rather than wait for Christmas, we decided the sooner the better(in case we do get pregnant soon). I spent the past couple of weeks reading books, searching the internet, trying to learn and decide if we were truly ready and what type to purchase. After reading several books(I highly recommend the books by Cesar Millan), we decided, lets do it! We were between buying a Havanese or a Maltipoo(both are small and social and both shed little and are great for allergy sufferers). Oh, and both are cute! :) Joey has this week off so he and I secretly went puppy shopping this afternoon while the older girls were in school. We both agreed on this little guy just about instantly. And Cali did too. He has a sweet little spirit and the perfect amount of spunk all wrapped into one teeny package(He was half the size of his brothers! Hes a little one!) He is already doing so good and the kids are in heaven. He is so very loveable and already doing "his business" outside pretty good for a pup! The girls were so surprised and so happy when they came home-almost worth all the doggy poo I'll be picking up:) haha. As I type, he sleeps peacefully in his crate. He fits in perfect with our family and I already can't imagine not having him! And Joey finally has a guy to relate with around here:)
This picture just makes me laugh. Cali is just chillin like, "I'm so done with that already." :) She had spent half the day with the puppy already and I guess was ready to read.
But then she got thoughtful later and decided to give the "dog" the "Go, dog. Go." book. Very smart Cali:)
Wish us luck on our new adventure!
