National Night Out

Earlier this month, our city held its National Night Out. Our neighborhood made it fun with a bounce house at the end of our culdesac, hot dogs, chips, ice pops, face painting, a visit from the police and fire department, the works! We walked our little family down for an evening of fun and getting to know lots of neighbors. We have a good mix of families here-no one quite as young as Joey and I (we are the youngins in the hood:) but there are families with kids mixed with retired grandparents. I loved how the grandmas flocked to the baby and one of them even held him:) I really love the feel of it here. We had fun and I'm glad we went! I almost didn't go because there was a Relief Society activity that I had planned on attending but I just felt strongly I needed to meet our neighbors and be part of this evening with Joey and the kids. And I'm glad I did. I knew I had chosen the right thing to do as we walked home that night with our kids bellies full, faces painted, and lips stained with ice pop juice:) I love this family of mine.
